If you have been a victim of timeshare fraud, you should report the fraud to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at https:\/\/www.ic3.gov and consider filing a criminal complaint with the attorney general’s office in the state where the resort is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following steps should be taken:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Report the fraud: Contact FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and file a formal complaint with the FBI’s IC3 at https:\/\/www.ic3.gov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Attorney General: File a criminal complaint with the attorney general’s office in the state where the resort is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seek legal advice: Consult an attorney. If you believe you have a solid case, seek the advice of an attorney specializing in consumer protection or fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power of Attorney: If you plan to file a complaint in Mexico, consider hiring an lawyer with a valid power of attorney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protect Yourself from Future Scams:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beware of unsolicited calls, texts, or emails. Scammers often use aggressive tactics and time-sensitive offers. Always research the entities you contact and verify the legitimacy of the companies or individuals before sharing any information or making payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avoid “free” offers: Be wary of promises of free meals or gifts, as these are often part of a scam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider Alternatives to Timeshare Sales Companies: Instead of using a timeshare sales company, consider contacting the resort developer directly or selling your timeshare on your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
